Influence
Leading
I Ching · Archetypal Polarity
Natural influence that draws others to define their own path toward shared goals. This gate leads through magnetic presence and future-thinking, waiting to be invited into leadership because genuine authority is felt before it is announced.
The shadow is arrogance — forcing oneself into leadership without an invitation, or using influence entirely for self-aggrandizement rather than the collective good.
The compulsion to lead without being invited. Self-appointed authority that demands followers alienates those it seeks to influence.
True leadership arising from being recognised, not from seizing power. You lead by embodying what you speak, making your life the message.
The paradox of the humble leader — so empty of self that the whole can speak through you. Humility is the ultimate strength.

"The mountain and the lake call to each other. True influence arises from genuine openness — it cannot be forced."
