Youthful Folly
Formulization
I Ching · Archetypal Polarity
The restless mental pressure to answer the world's questions through spontaneous theories. This gate formulates endlessly, understanding that its folly is charming—each failed hypothesis brings it one step closer to truth.
The shadow is the intolerance of uncertainty — masquerading as the 'expert' who knows everything to hide a deep fear of looking foolish, destroying the playful experimentation needed to learn.
The mental need to have the right answer creates rigid thinking. Intolerance of ambiguity leads to premature conclusions and closed-mindedness.
Deep patience with the process of not-knowing allows genuine understanding to crystallise. Tolerance for complexity opens doors to real wisdom.
The ultimate understanding — that all human behaviour emerges from conditioning. True forgiveness dissolves the very concept of wrongdoing.

The Judgment
"In inexperience, there is no shame. The student seeks the teacher — not the other way around. Sincerity in asking brings wisdom."
